Marquis had a hard time stepping away from sales. He loved it. And, more importantly, he didn't trust someone enough to release those reins.
Kreisman in contrast understood that his business had hit a ceiling, and it would require a certain kind of salesperson (and not the kind we would expect) to break through the roof.
